Maison du peuple de Saint-Claude

A real multi-disciplinary cultural venue (theatre, jazz, cinema, archives etc.), the Maison du Peuple also presents an exhibition on the labour movement and co-operatives in the Haut-Jura (1880-1980).

As you walk through this building which was completed in 1910, you may well become aware of a real social utopia.  The Maison du peuple once housed its foodstuffs cooperative, union, mutual insurance companies, cultural and sporting organisations etc.
