White Cooperage Woodcrafts museum - Bois d’Amont

Surrounded by the forests of Risoux and Noirmont, the white cooperage museum is situated on both banks of the Orbe at the heart of the village of Bois d’Amont.
Housed in an ancient restored sawmill, the museum invites visitors to discover the tools, machines and skills of the craftsmen in wood who learned how to make the most of all the qualities of spruce and transform it into many different products (boxes, skis, cases etc.).
The guided tour includes many demonstrations. Operation of the slicing machine, the steam engine, the turbine activating the water-powered saw and the bucketwheel driving the hemp beater.
