In the heart of the area known as the Pays de l’Enfant (Land of Children) and the Regional National Park of Haut-Jura, in the French capital of the toy industry, the Toy Museum offers visitors both entertaining architecture and an exceptional collection. The wood-turning industry, which has always had a strong presence in the region, dates back to the 13th century when the monks of the Abbey of Saint-Claude produced devotional articles for sale. Since the end of the 19th century, the region of Moirans-en-Montagne has excelled in the manufacture of wood-turned toys such as skittles, spinning tops, trumpets and other "ten penny toys". The Museum describes the history of changes in manufacturing techniques. The story of the people who make and devote their lives to inventing, designing and producing these objects is presented in videos. Visitors then have the opportunity of discovering more than 2,000 games from a wide range of eras and countries.
