This medieval château, the oldest traces of which date back to the XII century, is perched on a rocky ridge overlooking the Loue valley. This outstanding situation gave a bird’s eye view over the road known as the «salt and wood road» from Salins to Dole and the valley of the Saône.
An association «The Friends of Vaulgrenant», established in 2001, works to preserve this site, in collaboration with ADAVAL, the Association for the Development of the Val d’Amour, organising youth task forces each year.
