A major monument of romanesque art. It was established in 890 and was the origin of the church at Cluny. The church at Gigny was part of a major surge of Christian activity in the Xth century. Pope Jules II was prior there. Part of the network of Cluniac monastic sites, the church at Gigny was on the 2005 « Major European Cultural Route » of the Council of Europe. Illustrated panels retell its story.
