Chalain and Clairvaux Lake District

The fringes of lakes Chalain and Clairvaux bear witness to an exceptional archeological heritage of recognised European importance due to the excellent preservation of underwater remains.  Between 4000 and 1000 years B.C., farming communities built their villages on piles here.

Exhibition
The « Prehistory of the Jura lakes: Chalain and Clairvaux between 4000 and 1000 years BC » exhibition  presents the results of the archeological studies. It tells the history of the daily lives of Neolithic peoples who sought refuge along the shores of these two lakes.
