During the autumn of 2006, the Jura archaeological museum in Lons-le-Saunier left the Puits-Salé park for its temporary home at the Hôtel de Balay, 7 rue des Cordeliers. The museum team is preparing to transfer collections from all over the Department into stocks the construction of which will be finished in the spring of 2008.
In parallel, it is digitising the old collections of Chalain and Clairvaux in partnership with the Directorate of the Musées de France.
Meanwhile, the museum is holding its library and documentation available to the public (by appointment).
Also, in 2007, the team and its partners will be making available:
-Publications: Vigne, Vin et Archéologie dans le Jura des Ages des Métaux à la Révolution française (Vine, wine and archaeology in the Jura from the bronze age through to the French Revolution (spring 2007)) ; Châteaux du Jura (autumn 2007), etc.;
- Monthly conferences in partnership with the Société d'émulation du Jura ;
- Workshops and teacher's toolkits aimed at young people and school groups in partnership with the Educational service of the museum and the Jura Heritage Centre.
